 St Mary's church. St Mary's church > 1406281 - 1406299 is located on an elevation beside a by-road to Thwaite, east of the main Bungay to Norwich road. 716934 was the home of the Rider Haggard family, perhaps best known for the author of 'King Solomon's Mines' and 'She' - Sir Henry Rider Haggard, who was born in West Bradenham > 710108. The church dates from the 15th century but an earlier C13 lancet window in the chancel wall indicates that the present building as we see it today was built onto an older structure. St Mary's was extensively restored in the 19th century and the stained glass windows > 1406308 date from that time. The church still houses its original C14 octagonal font 1406347 as well as fragments of medieval glass in one of the windows and two brasses > 1406326.

superstition, and derived from the Norse war-dog, the Hound of Odin. This wild-eyed, teeth bearing, dog in silhouette, rides a lightning bolt and was

designed in 1933 by a child attending Bungay village school in a competition.

When the author of the Sherlock Holmes detective mysteries, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930), visited Cromer (to recoup from a recent trip to South Africa where he had contracted enteric fever), he heard of a legend according to which one of Black Shuck's - the 'hell hound' of Norfolk - tracks runs through what today is Mill Lane, past what used to be the Royal Links Hotel (destroyed by fire in 1949) and over the hill into the grounds of Cromer Hall. It is believed that this ghostly story inspired him to write one of his greatest mysteries, the 'Hound of the Baskervilles' (1902); Doyle knew Lord Cromer and visited with him during his stay, and the description of Crom

No Bake Dog Treats to Lure Black Shuck

Ingredients:

• 1 cup of peanut butter

• 2 cups of plain oats

• 1 tbs. of honey

Directions:

• Mix the oats and peanut butter together in a medium to large mixing bowl.

• Add in honey.

• Use spoon to scoop small balls of “dough” onto baking pan or plate.

• Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

• Take out of the fridge and let your pups enjoy.

• It is recommend to only keep them refrigerated or in airtight container for 3-5 days.
