Curse Poppets: Episode 003
Feeling a little uneasy? Good. We’re sure we can make you feel better with a dolly and a story. Your Midnight Library host, Miranda Merrick, cannot wait to tell you all about Curse Poppets this fine evening. Magically powerful little dolls that just might be strong enough to spin the world your way… or our way, which, let’s face it, is probably more likely.
Ms. Merrick created this delightful speciumen based on tonight’s poppet description. It just goes to show, it really can be that easy…as long as you have the right ingredients.
How to Make a Curse Poppet:
Select your Main Material: Cloth tends to be the most popular way to make a curse poppet, but other materials like wood, wax, and clay can also be used to construct a humanoid figure.
Select your Intention and Fabric: Since poppets work off the power of symbols, what you adorn it with should be reflective of what you desire. For example, if you would like a creativity-inducing poppet colors like orange and vibrant elements like sun or fire. For help in the finance department, use the colors of money - green, gold, or silver. In fact, you can even add coins! Or, if you’re looking for love…use the classic red and/or pink and symbols of love, like a heart.
Build Your Poppet: The poppet should be small (about the size of your hand, perhaps a bit bigger) and should symbolize what you are placing the magic on. So, if it is a person your poppet should look human-like. Shape your chosen material accordingly, and make sure to wrap or paint your selected fabric and symbols into its being.
Add the Spell Components: Before the spell is complete, it is time to add some finishing touches to your curse poppet that will really imbue it with power. If you’re focusing energy on a certain person a piece of them (like a nail, body fluid, hair, or even a picture) should be inserted into or affixed to the poppet. This creates a magical link to that person. In lieu of that, you can also add in crystals, herbs, or other magical items to imbue it with power. The more detail you add, the more power your poppet will have. Before you finish making it, say who your poppet is/represents out loud.
